Michele Lacy
Success Story
Seventy-six-year-old Michele Lacy from Cottonwood, Arizona, enjoys gardening with her husband and visiting with family.
After a hip replacement surgery, Michele was referred to Rehabilitation Hospital of Northern Arizona (RHNA) for specialized rehabilitative care by her physician and the hospital’s medical team. Upon admission to RHNA, Michele’s primary goals were to walk and shower independently. The hospital’s interdisciplinary healthcare team worked with Michele to develop an individualized treatment plan that would help her achieve her goals.
“I was fearful when I first arrived,” Michele says. “But one after another, each staff member greeted me with a smile, and I needed every one of them. It was like joining a big family. My physical therapist, Shalaine, especially helped with my healing journey.”
After 10 days at RHNA, Michele achieved her goals of walking and showering independently, and excitedly returned home.
